The first full weekend of February saw Superbowl Parties all over, including one for CBR Mensa! We tried to use the party to build up our ExComm meeting earlier the same day, but several of the ExComm members decided to be nice – and let their coughs stay home while they attended the meeting virtually. Thank you to Cynthia Corsentino for hosting the party!
The following weekend we combined a first and a last – thank you to Jim and Barbara McIntyre for hosting our first book crawl! We visited three bookstores before stopping for lunch at Jason’s Deli, and then finished up on Johnson Road.
Jim has started a new job back in Ohio, so this was the last event they will be hosting here in Charlotte. (And thank you to Tim Dienes, who is taking over the M.E.N.S.A. event.)
Lurching Toward Oblivion continues to draw visitors in waves – naturally, hosts Pradeep and Becky Kumar (thank you!) showed up with the first arrivals.
The second wave included Bill and Karin Fleet, notable because Bill was the one responsible for the name of this event.
The February theme for the Gourmet SIG, organized by Joyce Borst (thank you!) was Mardi Gras. Of special interest here is that the Gourmet SIG has branched out to include a Gourmet Next Gen subgroup.
And part of that subgroup had a busy weekend, with a trip to Purple Planet Mini Golf the following day.
I’m not sure whose birthday it was, but I am sure that everyone had a great time!
Thank you to Jack Freund (our Gifted Youth Coordinator) for organizing this one.
