Richard Lederer, a long-time language columnist for the Mensa Bulletin is the author of more than 50 books about language, history, and humor, including his best-selling Anguished English series and his current books, A Treasury of Halloween Humor and A Treasury of Christmas Humor. He has been profiled in magazines as diverse as The New Yorker, People, and the National Inquirer and was founding co-host of “A Way With Words” on Public Radio.
Dr. Lederer’s observations on language appear in magazines throughout the United States, and “Lederer on Language” appears each Saturday in the San Diego Union-Tribune. He has been elected International Punster of the Year and Toastmasters International’s Golden Gavel winner. He makes about a hundred appearances a year and, as a speaker, is at home in almost any venue.

Richard is a prolific author of over 50 books. Richard also writes a weekly column in the San Diego Union-Tribune titled Lederer on Language.
After graduating from Harvard with a Master of the Arts in Teaching Degree, Richard taught at St. Pauls School for 27 years. He now travels around the country, delivering lectures.
With hundreds of public appearances a year, Richard is one of the best speakers Mensa has to offer. He was the recipient of the Toastmasters Golden Gavel in 2002.
The proud owner of the title of “Attila the Pun,” several of Richard’s most popular books are collections of puns. Richard won International Punster of the year in 1989.
