For the Mint Museum, just mention that you’re in town for the Charlotte/Blue Ridge Mensa RG and you’ll get the discount at the museum. If you’re interested in the NASCAR Hall of Fame, tickets need to be obtained in advance. Please scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the requested information.
Mint Museum Uptown
Mint Museum Uptown houses the internationally renowned Craft + Design collection, as well as outstanding collections of American, contemporary, and European art. Designed by Machado and Silvetti Associates of Boston, the five-story, 145,000-square-foot facility combines inspiring architecture with cutting-edge exhibitions to provide visitors with unparalleled educational and cultural experiences. Located in the heart of Charlotte’s burgeoning city center, Mint Museum Uptown is an integral part of the Levine Center for the Arts, a cultural campus that includes the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture, the Knight Theater, and the Duke Energy Center. Mint Museum Uptown also features a wide range of visitor amenities, including the 240-seat James B. Duke Auditorium, the Lewis Family Gallery, art studios, a restaurant, and a museum store. The museum is approximately one mile from the Fairfield Inn and Suites. You can either walk or the hotel shuttle will give you a ride.
When you arrive at the museum, mention to the Guest Services Associate on duty that you are part of the Charlotte/Blue Ridge Mensa Regional Gathering and you will receive a discounted rate of $12 per person (normally $15). The museum does offer free admission on Wednesday evenings, if you happen to be in town before or after the RG.
NASCAR Hall of Fame
Explore the legacies of the legends of the sport while immersing yourself in the excitement, passion and history of NASCAR through ever-evolving exhibits and interactive experiences. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is filled with classic and present-day cars as well as interactive experiences, realistic racing simulators, highlights of your favorite drivers’ most electrifying moments and more. Whether you’re a history buff or a casual fan, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is your one-stop shop to experience special and interactive exhibits of the most popular form of motorsports in America. The Hall of Fame is a half mile from the Fairfield Inn and Suites. You can either walk or the hotel shuttle will give you a ride.
Group rate tickets to the NASCAR Hall of Fame are available for $20 for adults (12 years old and older) or $15 for youth (4-12 years old). Simulator ride tickets can be purchased at the Hall of Fame for $5 each. If you plan on spending the day there, you can buy a combo for $28 which includes admission, souvenir lanyard, and unlimited simulator rides. The tickets are not dated, so they are valid for one year.
On November 12th, there will be a two hour guided tour at 1:00 pm that you can purchase for an additional $15. Hall experts will take you behind the scenes, detailing the specific cars and artifacts chosen for display, and sharing personal anecdotes and unique facts about each inductee. This is a chance to get an in-depth look into racing artifacts, exclusive stories and more.
