In a world filled with constant visual & auditory stimulation we are always on and ready to engage. Our memory banks are full, recall can be difficult when overwhelmed and the mind skips and loses connections little by little.
The senses are a conduit through which we engage with others and ourselves. Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling are vital signs of life directly associated with memory and meaning. Memories fade, senses dull and for many their ability to interact lessens until the social and cognitive ties no longer serve.
Research into brain function in dementia and Alzheimer’s patients has been vital in understanding the effects on human interaction as the brain’s capacity diminishes.
How to we keep our memory alive and engaged as we age in the 21st century?
Join us for an interactive session to explore how the sense of smell solidifies memories and helps keep a strong connection to our world.
Amy Poland started her career in fashion, fragrance and beauty in the mid 1980’s as a Ford Model and Estee Lauder promotional specialist, trained in retail cosmetics until joining Bloomingdale’s Boca Raton where she developed a passion for consumers and outstanding service and became a Certified Fragrance Sales Specialist via The Fragrance Foundation’s education outreach program.
She became a national education professional teaching sales people the art of storytelling via multiple brands like Boss, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. For 10 years she was an international brand educator in the South American markets, using Spanish and Portuguese to engage salespeople and developing consistent growth across countries.
Now Amy takes her experience to a new level in understanding how the sense of smell connects people to the world around them.
